Not sure what happened to me!?

Recommended Posts

I am new at this, had my surgery on 3/12/2010. I am in the soft foods stage, well this morning I had cottage cheese and a few manderine orange slices. I have been measuring everything and timing the meals as well. ( Freaky I know) Anyway, I did not feel very well after about 3 ounces, stopped eating then experienced really terrible pain, like a wicked heartburn, wanted to belch but could not, then I stared salivating, but it was like the slim, then some foamy crap came out of me! Yikes what the heck just happened? Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this kind of thing? I chewed the cottage cheese and manderine oranges really well, they are so soft to begin with. This really scared me. Any advice?

Sounds like you got "stuck". Sometimes it is really easy to get something stuck that you wouldn't dream would do it. This morning I nearly got "stuck" taking my medications with some prune juice.:Banane20:

Also, I do the slimeing, foaming thing after a fill. Not fun! The doc says that the fill causes pressure on the vagas nerve that runs by the stomach. It takes about 24 hours to get over that and you can slime and foam a lot in that time!!:Banane20:

If you get stuck, sometimes eating some papaya enzyme will help. Don't give in to the urge to "wash it down" with a drink. It doesn't work and only adds to the problem. My doc says it is like having a drain pipe clogged up and thinking that you can wash the clog down...the liquid will just pool up on top of the clog and cause more problems.

Hope this was helpful.

I was banded in December and have been 'stuck' a lot. Always been able to get it to go down, tho... But Monday nite was the worst!! After fighting to get some food to go down, I was very sore. Still today my stomach is swelled and I can't swallow more than liquid... which is what my doctor recommended anyway.

I guess some of us have to learn the hard way? And they tell me it won't be the last time?! =(

Stuck! I hate it! I've learned to slow down, but the second I feel that tight feeling I just stop immediately and walk away. I've never vomited but I have slimed on more than one occasion and I hate it so much that.... like I said... I just stop and walk away... For me... no food is worth that belching up foamy slime experience... bread and Tortillas cause me the biggest problem. I will say this, it is a learning experience. Trial and error. But I wouldn't change it for the world. The band is still the best gift I have ever given myself and after I year I still have no regrets. It has definitely changed my life!!! Hang in there and good luck!!!:Banane20:

It might've been something stuck. But it also could have been that you pushed past the "full" point.

I was banded a week before you and fish has gotten me twice so far. It isn't as soft as it looks.

No sliming yet and a mouthful of Water with a good push seems unclog my drain. This will probably change after I get a fill.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
