How long before you loved your Band?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just curious as to how long it too from getting surgery to actually loving your band. I hear the phrase "I love my band" alot and I am sure it didn't start from day 1 post op.

I am 3 days post op and I don't love my band but I have gotten a chance to get used to it yet and appreciate its benefits and help in the wt loss process.

So, for you , when did you start loving your band?

Dee

i think i'm starting to fall for mine already and i'm only 12 days out. my reasons are as follows:

yes, it's somewhat a pain in the rear so far. however, it does moderate my eating. i know i can't just scarf down a bag of chips or a bucket of chicken or whatever i'm craving. i know i have to eat in moderation or there could be bad repercussions. i can feel it when it "tells" me i'm full. and the feeling of only eating 4 little tablespoons of food but feeling full and satisfied is great. i'm still just shocked that it can work this way. not to mention that i've lost 12 pounds in 12 days. i know things might change as i lose more, get fills, and etc. but for right now i'm really starting to like my band more and more.

I am 30 days post op and I am liking it om right now. Not to sure when I will be in love with it soon I hope. I am thinking that I will love it when I get to go clothes shopping and it's not plus size deparment. That will be just a bit of a wait.

I am 5 days post-op and I just recently said the words "I love my band" last week. I resented it for quite awhile because I felt like I was doing all the work myself and picking up its slack until I got proper restriction. Now, I'm loving it!

Everyone is different and sometimes it takes awhile, but just know the majority of us think of our bands fondly :-)!

My band and I have a love/hate relationship at this point in time. I hate it because when I am stressed and overwhelmed (which is a lot lately) I can't eat to calm my nerves because of the tightness of my band. I love my band because when I am stressed and overwhelmed (which is a lot lately) I can't eat to calm my nerves because of the tightness of my band. Yeah, sounds crazy, but I'm betting somebody out there understands.

My band makes me think about my choices - whether I like it or not. Because I can't stuff myself until I forget my problems ... I actually have to think about what's going on in my life and deal with it 'sans food'. I love my band!

I've loved my band since the day I got it. First of all, it gave me hope because I was really feeling pretty hopeless about my weight and health issues before looking into the band. And, just having that hope has been huge for me.

Restriction has been somewhat of a roller-coaster for me. I am certainly not at my sweet spot yet and still have to exercise a lot of self-control lately. And, the weightloss is not consistent, partly because I'm not at my sweet spot yet and partly because I am still trying to create this new lifestyle w/the band.

But, I still love the band through it all because even w/the stalls and imperfect restriction, I'm losing weight at a much faster rate and much easier than I ever did before.

I found all your comments comforting. I am Pre-Op (Apr 8th) and starting to freak out. "What am I doing" "Do I really want to deal with this".

I am very encouraged by your comments, Thanks

I've always been pretty fond of my band. It has done well by me, but when I truly fell in love was after my first Christmas with the band. I had eaten lots of junk throughout the holidays. I had little restriction and gained 5 lbs. I went in for a fill just after New Years and got my restriction back. I lost the five lbs and 5 more in the next two weeks. That's when I knew, this piece of silicon was going to help me keep my weight loss. Even when I screwed up, I had a tool to get me back on track. I could always diet, but I always gained it right back. Now I had something that truly helped me.

I have loved my band from the beginning. I love the way I feel because I can no longer "over-eat" and have that stuffed feeling. I physically feel much better. Sometime, I would like to eat some bad stuff, but after a few bites I don't want anymore. So, overall this new tool is working with me and for me! Love It!

I've been in love with mine since the moment it was put into my body--possibly before.

Seriously, even before it started doing the trick (and I should add: I don't yet have ideal restriction), it represented such hope to me that I can't help but love it.

When I started experincing pbing and not understanding what was happining or why. There was a time I thought what have I got myself into. I want this thing out! But after alot of hard work and learning a new way to eat that thought has changed. I have had my band four months and lost 41 pounds and I'm tickeled with my progress so far. My weight has just recently started to budge so that gives me hope it will keep going. I hope to reach my small goal of 200 by the start of August. I wouldn't say I love my band yet but I have just started to like it. Me and the band still have alot to learn about each other before I fall in love with it.HE HE!!

I've loved it from day one. The band is doing the trick for me. I would have never taken off this much weight without it and that was the point of getting banded.

Now I am confident I will take off the rest of my excess weight and keep it off. ........Love the band!

I started to love my band when I started getting fills and it made HUNGRY go away (think of the WW commercials). Pre band I was HUNGRY all the time and now "its just time to eat". Its a miracle for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
