has anyone experienced this?

Recommended Posts

I got banded in Sept 09 - have had one fill. have really felt no restriction but my provider quit and have been waiting for someone in area and have lost very slowly so just trying to be patient. I am now out of state and probably have been eating too much and have had some alcohol with dinners tho have tried not too. starting yesterday after eating it has felt like my food "went down the wrog pipe" have had some coughing but no vomiting. I have actually only vomited a few times all in one evening due to be drunk ( I know I know) this was about a month and half ago. I have a 'feeling' directly between my boobs maybe slightly higher, feels like when you have coughed really hard . I am able to eat and drink. has anyone experienced this I am out of town and my only option is ER untill April 9th don't feel like it is an emergency but worried it could be something serious I spoke with somone at the surgery and he said maybe taking it easy and eating soft or liquids. but that since I am able to eat it does not seem serious. It kind of feels like I am feeling restriction constantly but really not sure what restriction is suposed to feel like since before all this I felt like I could eat anything but of course I mostly stuck with reccomended diet. PLEASE HELP

the spot where you say you have the weird feeling is the spot that hurts when I get something STUCK. I would do liquids for a few days like you said. Maybe something is swollen & you need to just do liquid for a few. You REALLY need to talk to your surgens office about somebody seeing you a new doc. HTH. :-)

during my pre-op classes, they recommended mixing a little bit of meat tenderizer into a glass of Water and drinking it so that it loosens up anything stuck. i havent had that issue, but i also havent had a fill yet. but i do have a little bottle of the meat tenderizer just in case.

I had that feeling right after I started on real foods after surgery....when something got stuck or I was full I would get a slight "pain"/twinge right there...it was wierd.

I have heard the meat tenderizer trick does work.....you might try that!

Hang in there!

I have this feeling A LOT. I am super tight 2-2 1/2 weeks of the month, then the rest I am ok. During these times, like right now, I have that feeling all day. I ate 2 chicken nuggets today, and I am still burping and slimeing from them. It is hormonal for me, happens every month. I am going to try the meat tenderizer right now! What is weird is that I haven't had a fill in at least 6 mo, and was losing slow and steady until april, when this 2 weeks of super tight nonsense started. I'm losing really well now, except when I eat ice cream, so I guess I'll just put up with it. Finally am under 200lbs!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
