My name is Christina and I have completed all my test and got approved for the surgery two weeks ago. I have Tricare Prime and they didn't give me any problems. I currently weigh 314 and have no co-morbidities, but I wanted to make a change in my life. I have started the liquid diet stage presurgery and I believe my surgery is on the 1st of April. I'm both excited and scared.Any advice?

I had my surgery on March 10th. I was probably more scared than anyone, I never had surgery so didnt know what to expect. The surgery was a breeze, I was required to stay overnight. The next 2 1/2 days where uncomfortable, I questioned why I did it. But after day 3 that was all forgotten(Ill explain, very bad gas discomfort, but no actual pain due to surgery). I got back to normal after 3rd day and after 10 days I lost 32# so the first 2 1/2 days are forgotten. Its been alot easier than anticipated so far(Loseing, healing). The diet stinks until week 2 which Im starting now. I hope this is helpful to you. Good luck, youll do great.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
