Hi all,

Well, I had my surgery on 4/24/09 and I guess I've been lucky so far. I haven't had a month that I gained anything, it's been fairly steady 2-4lb loss per month with one month of big loss because I was overfilled and lived on ice cream for like a month.

But, the real point is that I seem to have reached my first plateau and, of course, it had to be right at the 200lb mark. I got a little off-program for a bit but still managed to lose some weight. I re-commited to eating right, got off my butt and started exercising...and plateau'd just about immediately.

Figures I'd be backwards and plateau when I did something different as opposed to everyone else who plateaus and has to do something different to get OUT of it LOL!

Any suggestions, hints, words of encouragement? I hear the carbs calling and it would be WAY too easy to give into them because I'm frustrated.

I just want below 200lbs!!!!

Plateaus are so difficult. Your surgery date was very close to mine. I guess I had what you would call a mini-plateau for about 6 weeks. I was exercising more than ever and eating better and the scale still wouldn't budge. But for some reason, one day it did and it kept on moving. That was 5 lbs ago.

So please don't get discouraged. Try upping you Protein levels to help stave off the hunger and make good food choices. Drink lots of fluids and exercise and it will come off. Just call yourself a slow loser and don't compare yourself to anyone, that will discourage you!

It is difficult to not want the weight to come off NOW. Just keep in mind your goal and how you want your life to be. If you can keep the sweets out of your system you will be way ahead of the game. It seems like once you get the taste for it, it's hard to break. Best of luck and try and keep focused.

My favorite line from Finding Nemo: "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...." Just keep at it! You'll break through soon.

How long have you been stuck?

I'm in the same boat as you and I feel so down because I keep going up 2lbs and down 2lbs. I have not lost anything in weeks. I also lost weight great the first 9 months, but the last few have really slowed down. I was hoping to be at 189 by my 1 year date, but I've been the same weight for weeks. I have been eating healthy and working out everyday and still no weight loss. I hope my scale moves soon because it is very hard to keep on track. Best of luck to both of us!!

It sure is tough when the damn scale doesn't move! Try not to just focus on the number. How are your clothes fitting? Can you now go up a flight of stairs easier? Take your measurements and you may see a reduction. After all, it's really not about getting lighter, it's about getting smaller. Best of luck to all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
