I'm curious to find out how often everyone goes about weighing themselves and reasons for why they've chosen to monitor themselves in the way that they have.

I ask in this forum because of the emotional and psychological response to loosing and gaining weight.

For me, I've gone through the weighing myself everyday phase and I found myself a slave to the ritual of getting up and stepping on the scale. I'd let a minor fluctuation up in weight completely disrupt my morning even when I knew that the body fluctuates a couple pounds. I had to gain control by resisting the urge to weigh everyday and move between once a week to 2-3 times a week to save my sanity.

It's all a personal choice, some people do better weighing everyday, me for one, and some people do better weighing every week or two. By weighing everyday it helps keep me in control, if I need to back away from food (calories) then I do so. I do not stress over weighing a pound or two heavier one day. However, I do know me and I do know when to back away from food/calories when I need to do so.

I try to weigh every day for the exact reason the Missy stated above. Sometimes I forget though, so it usually ends up being 4-5 times a week.

"I love weighing everyday. It either is a thrill or a reminder. And I am ok with that."

Couldn't have said it better myself :-)

I weigh several times a week, but I only record my weight for my own records once a week. The other times I weigh are for reasons that others have already mentioned, as a motivation or a reminder :-)

Every single morning...get up, go to the restroom and get on the scales...lets me know if I need to "alter" my eating for that day and it's been working pretty well for me...however, everyone is different and when you find what works best for you...Stick to it.

Daily, After years of edema in my legs and high blood pressure, old habits die hard. Plus I still retain fluids sometimes. I do use it as a reminder. But cannot beat myself up over the # .

I weigh every few weeks simply because there is such little change in my weight from day to day at this point. I'm very close to goal and am struggling to get the last few off. I run 4-5 miles a day so gaining isn't really a concern for me. I'm gaining muscle and losing inches, not necessarily pounds at this point. Besides, I don't really care about what I weigh as much as how I look and what size I can wear.

I'm totally with Missy and the others on this. I weigh myself every day, and if it goes down then i'm good, and if it doesn't, well, the body does flucuate, and I don't let it get to me. Of course, I'm going on a 4 day road trip tomorrow and will be away from my scale for that entire time. who know what will happen, lol.

I never weigh myself, I do not want to discourage myself.

I determine weight loss by the fit of my clothes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
