Has anyone gained all of their weight back?

Recommended Posts

It has been 2 years since I had my lap-band® and I originally lost 50 lbs the first 6 months. I stayed at that weight until about a year and have gradually gained it all back. I am back where I started. It's so frustrating. I know, I know, I know....it's what I eat. I eat the wrong stuff and it has come back on. I feel miserable. Any kind of suggestions on how to motivate myself to get back on track?

Well, you still have your band, so why not just start over at square one?

Go get a fill

Do a few days of liquids

Then a few days of mushies

Drink lots of Water

Get back to band basics

I really feel like I have restriction still. I guess starting over would be the logical place to begin again. I'm almost embarassed to go back to the doctor's office because the weight is back where I started. I'll try with starting at the beginning and see if that helps at all.

Doesn't sound like you have restriction, if you can eat enough to have put the weight back on. I do think starting over is in order. My first thing would be to go back to the doc. I understand your embarresment but try to put that aside. I'm sure you won't be the first patient he/she has seen who put weight back on. The doc. can tell you how to get back on track. Good luck!

Agreed with vlp. Your doctor *wants* you to succeed and understands these things sometimes happen. Think of him as your health care provider -- not someone who will judge you. Doctors became doctors to help people, not to judge them.

Maybe something like Weight Watchers with weekly weigh-ins would be useful? From experience, I can tell you that when I was on WW, I really did "behave" because you know the next weigh-in is less than 7 days away.

Stop feeling guilty, and get back on that horse!!! Start journaling everything you eat. For me, journaling is crucial. It makes it tougher to grab a snack when you know you have to write it down & see it in print. Get plenty of Protein and drink lots of Water. And for goodness sake, stay away from slider foods!!!!! Best of Luck, and keep posting. Stay connected.:Banane20:

My daughter had her lapband surgery 2 years ago and lost 85 lbs. Over the next year, she got married, went on her honeymoon and settled into her new life and gradually gained back 27 lbs. When she went to the doc with me for my initial visit (2 months ago), she got a fill and has since lost 17 lbs. She's back closer to her goal weight.

The doctor told her that those who come in on a regular basis tend to keep their weight loss on track.

Go back to your doctor and have regular checkups. I think this keeps you accountable and more proactive.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
