A bit too tight and looking to commiserate...

Recommended Posts

Uhg!!! I go to school in MA but my surgeon and family are back in CA so I got a .9 fill over break and I'm seriously hurting. I havent thrown up at all so it doesnt seem worth paying for a ER visit in the tiny town I go to school in... I just feel terrible after eating event the tiniest portions of band friendly food  I got the fill about 5 days ago so hopefully it will loosen up but until then or I decide on another course of action I'm switching back over to mushies. LOL if I have to spend the next 6 weeks on mushies I am going to look great over summer jk  How is everyone else?

I was too tight & lived with it for 2 months. I just went & had .4 cc removed. All the negative things I was feeling went away (up all night spitting up, PBing-food, pressure in my chest after eating, not being able to eat or drink in the mornings, coughing all night, acid reflux @ night). The worst thing that happened was I streatched my pouch a little. You can get a slipped band-worst case. Regardless, if your too tight fix it, you can cause ireversable damage...

I will go back next month for her to put another .cc or .2 just cause I can eat more than I could before when I was too tight.

Good luck!

I, too, have lived with a too tight band because I was afraid they would take too much out. Sunday I shut down completely and had to go for an emergency unfill, and you guessed it, they wanted to take it all!!!! I refused so we compromised and I am much too comfortable now!!!! I ate at a buffett last night and got my money's worth!!!! I will have to go back to journaling my cals so I don't gain too much til my next fill.

Best wishes,

Mimi

I am also too tight. I am PBing ALL the time. Here's the thing.....my surgeron just left his practice in Chicago. He referred me to another surgeon in the suburbs which isn't very convenient. I guess the other factor is that because I'm too tight and not able to eat all that much, my weight is really coming off.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
