Las vegas surgeons/patients?

Recommended Posts

I'm moving from NY to the Las Vegas area...

can anyone recommend a doc in NV? Preferably decently close to Las Vegas?

I checked the Nevada page on here and it just lists the surgeons [so please don't direct me there], and it lists posts on very few of the doctors listed but nothing came up when I clicked it anyway.

I want to hear from people who have used whatever surgeon.

oh and p.s. yes I had the surgery already.... just looking to keep up with a doc in my new area. Thanks all!

i had my sleeve with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali - it's a 4 hr drive to Las Vegas - or a one hour flight. aprox.

He and his staff are very professional and reliable. I have nothing but good comments about him and the hospital's service. Check them out!!

I was banded last week w/ Dr. Darren Soong in Las Vegas. He and Dr. Atkinson run the "Gastric Band Institute of Las Vegas". I really like Dr Soong and they have an office in the central area and another in the southeast. I traveled here for the surgery and did alot of research before choosing them, they seem to be the best in the area.

You went down to Vegas from Alaska?

Hm. I used to live in Alaska too lol, in 05-06.

But thank you for the recommendation. I will def. call and see if they will take on a patient who's already had surgery.

Yep, flew to Las Vegas for the surgery. My kids live here so I am recuperating with them. I'm self pay and didn't want to go out of the country.

Also I didn't want to use Drs in Alaska. I didn't think they had done a lot of the surgeries, and there are none in my town anyway.

Good luck with your move! Sharon

I also went through the Gastric Band Institute. Dr. Atkinson performed my surgery. I'm 3 weeks post-op. Their staff is very friendly and have answered any concerns / questions I had. Check them out.

I came from NY 6 years ago with my husband and had my lap band done by Dr. ATkinson and Dr. Soong in Las vegas. I cannot say enough good about them and their office. I am at goal with 87 pds lost as of today and have had no problems or any fills.

I am one of the few that never needed a fill and love my band. They are wonderful and knowledgeable people with a terrific staff and you will be very happy with them.

Hope you have good luck with them and enjoy Las Vegas.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
