Although I'm only three days post op and still on liquids, I'm planning ahead to my mushy food stage. I have a blender but do not have a food processor. Which works better? Is it worth buying a food processor for this or will the blender be fine? I'd love to hear how other people mush up their food.

A friend of mine who was banded last year told me to invest in the "Bullet" it's like 49.95 Costco's had they a few weeks ago. I use it to blend all of my homemade Soups and it is super powerful and great. I even use it in the morning's to make my Protein Shake and I add a couple of ice cubes and it takes like a chocolate shake! Super yummie. I really enjoy it and it's well worth the investment. Good luck.

i have a hamilton beach personal blender (it has this detachable cup top), a big food processor, and a small mini food processor. the only one i've used so far is the personal blender and it works great. i do what savanna said... use it for blending Soups and stuff. i've never used the bullet but i'm cheap and spending $15 on my personal blender fit my budget better than $50 for the bullet and so far the personal blender does the job well. does the bullet do anything extra besides blending? my husband (the food processor king) says the processor will come in handy once i start mushies (hopefully this week!!!).

We bought a vitamix blender. At first I didn't want to spend the extra $$, but am so grateful we did. It blends everything including whole frozen strawberries, and it has a lifetime warranty.

I didn't blend- although I made shakes with the bullet on medifast a while back. Clean up is easy- you attach the cup you will drink out of right to the bullet.

For mushie phase I ate scrambled eggs (egg beaters), cottage cheese, applesauce, yougurt. Follow what your surgean, nutritionist reccomends.

When I was on the mushie stage..I ate mashed potatoes...beans...yogurt...oatmeal...soft boiled carrots...cream of wheat...meatloaf....turkey burger patties...I never used a food processor.

Good luck on your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
