Need some motivation

Recommended Posts

I was banded 12/16/09. I have lost 40 lbs so far, but have been at a stand still for last 6 weeks or so. First week of Feb I had to have foot surgery on my right foot due to infection, was hospitalized for 2 weeks. I lost 11 lbs those 2 weeks, but 6 or so came back on quickly once out of the hospital. I was on crutches for 2 weeks, then I fractured my left foot. Now I have a full cast on left foot, and will be in a wheelchair for 6-8 weeks! I am scared that I will start gaining weight due to lack of exercise now. I was looking forward to getting this weight off, now I'm stuck, unmotivated, and don't feel like doing anything. My luck sucks! Sorry, geuss I just needed to vent.

Oh man! That is some bad luck, lol! keep your chin up. You can so some upper body exercise if you are worried about it. But really, just continue to make good food choices, and get al your Protein and I think you will do fine. The protein will help you heal faster too! It does suck for it to be finallly turning to good weather and be all cooped up. I can understand the frustration.

As far as teh 11 lb loss and then a regain....chalk that all up to the wierd I.V fluids and such you probably received.

I hope you feel better! Keep posting if you are stir crazy. it seems that there are many on here willing to lend an ear and give great advice!

40 pounds since December that is totally awesome. Imagine this- I had massive issues with my port placement and it hurt to move at all. I put up with this issue for almost two years. I am totally stupid, but I was afraid the doctor would remove my band.

Ahem...the short of it was because of the pain I was unable to move. By the end- walking to the kitchen made me cry. However despite of my lack of ability to move about I was able to lose 80 pounds. I now exercise, and I am thankful I bucked up and faced my fear, and got another surgery.

We are all going to have set backs, but we are the lucky ones, we have a lapband, and that should keep us from eating the whole house...right?

You have shown that you can do this. Keep going.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
