3 days post op, horrible indigestion

Recommended Posts

I am 3 days post op and I am experiencing horrible indigestion. No help with tums or milk of magnesia. I have been walking but nothing is helping. Any suggestions?

did they give you any prevacid solutabs or any kind of meds to help with that? my doc gave me prevacid solutabs (they dissolve on the tongue) and something called reglan that supposed to help get the body regulated into digesting again or something. have you called your doc to see what they think? i am 8 days post op and still haven't really had indigestion issues although i did have that problem before. they repaired a hernia during surgery though and i think that has helped. i hope you feel better soon.

i am now 13 days post op and not really have any issues (other than itchy incisions) but i remember the early post op days and i felt that weird "lump in the throat" feeling and feeling like i needed to burp but never was able to. i think that might just be part of how it feels at first. it slowly went away for me and probably will for you, too. it seems like everyday that goes by it gets better and better and you start feeling more normal again. i know that sounds frustrating (one day at a time) cuz i sure thought it did when i was one and two days post op, but it really is true. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
