How do you experienced bansters do with cheeses and nuts? I'm thinking nuts are like pills, so prob not so much, but i wasn't so sure about cheese. Do you have to chew it until it's mush?

Does everything have to be chewed to mush?

Everyone is different of course but I have no problems with nuts or cheese. I eat them regularly. You do have to chew everything very well and slowly. Sometimes even well chewed things can sorta backup so to speak...especially the first bite for some reason.

cheese = easy

Nuts = depends on how they mat up after chewing

Peanuts +

Almonds: toasted + raw -

Pistashios +

Walnuts okay in *small* amounts

Caveat: I've had my band too tight for years at a time, so with a looser band, I might have been able to deal with almonds better.

Foods I don't even try anymore: bread, artichokes :), carrots, or flour tortillas. I can eat rice, but why?, given the minimal nutrition it offers.

I can eat cheese by it's self or melted on things. I can eat a small amount of nuts.

I do not chew everything to much, but make sure every bite is chewed well. If I have to chew something to "mush" I just get grossed out.

Either work for me.

I dont eat a lot of cheese, not as a daily food, I lean more towards the more gourmet cheeses on a nice platter, with olives and stuff, lol. Love that sort of thing and usually if the kids get a pizza or other take away for dinner (rare treat!) doug and I will have a cheese platter. I also take small amounts to work for lunch.

Everyday cheese, I dont eat a lot of. The smell of cheese grilling makes me want to vomit, I cant bear it, which is a new phenomenon since banding, that has develped over the past year or so.

Nuts I eat a fair amount of. I love cashews, almonds can be very hard to eat and I use a lot of pine nuts too. Macadamias are also a favourite.

I don't have a problem with either - I eat both frequently. (Sunflower seeds--are they a nut?) : )
