Never Started a Diet on a Friday

Recommended Posts

Well, I guess it is crunch time. My surgery is April 2nd and my 2 week pre-op diet starts to day. Through out my lifetime career of dieting, I have never started on a Friday.

My pre-op consist of 2 Protein Shakes, 4oz of meat and veggies. Gotta love it. I have had headaches the whole day but I am sure I will be OK. By the way the Unjury shakes taste pretty good. I tried the strawberry sherbet for Breakfast and chocolate for lunch. So far I am very impressed.

Good luck to you! I start my preop diet Sunday. Saturday is my grandkid's 6th birthday so for my last "fat picture" I am having my daughter take a picture of me stuffing my face with a piece of cake. I'm so excited and yet nervous. I guess thats how most people feel.

I don't know how to make the shakes yet, mix with some low fat milk or Water? Just seeing what all the options are.

Once again, good luck. See you on the skinny!!!:frown:

You can do it! I started my pre-op on a Friday as well, using the Unjury powder. It went very well for me so I am sure it will go well for you too! If you want to add a little something to the strawberry sorbet flavor I use 16 ounces fo Water, 2 scoops of unjury and 1 packet of crystal light lemonade--it tastes really good and really packs in the Protein.< /p>

I am thinking about you and offering up my support. My surgery is April 7 and I am counting down the days.

You will do great on the preop and the surgery. It will be worth it!

Come to think of it, I don't believe I ever started a diet on a Friday either! :frown: Good luck on your pre-op diet. I have been on mine for just over a week and my surgery is on 4/1... April is just around the corner for both of us!

You sound just like me. I started my pre-op on Friday and my surgery is also April 2nd. It wasn't so bad Friday but then yesterday, I wanted to eat everything in the grocery store. Today is a much better day. My doctor will allow one small salad tomorrow and I can't wait but I'm ok. Lots better than I thought I'd be. Good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
