I am 5 weeks post-op and I feel like if I am doing good. I have lost 17 pounds no pre-op diet. I have only 2ccs in my band, so almost no restriction. I have not eaten any bread since before surgery, I am scared that I will get stuck. One of my favorite food is subs, especially a cold cut trio on wheat from subway, will I ever be able to eat a sub again. I would not want to eat so much bread until after I have had some significant weight loss. My question is, are their bansters out their that eat subs without a problem? Will I have to give up subs forever?

I personally cannot tolerate bread but I have recently read on this board that there are some people who can still eat 6" subs from subway. I used to love subway prior to banding, but have given it up. I do crave sanwiches very much so.

That is one of my favorite subs also!! I couldn't tolerate bread very well at first, but am about 5 months post op and I can eat about half of a 6" sub from subway. I would try just a plain piece of bread first and see how you handle it and go from there.

I used to be able to put away a full 12" sub without a problem. Now I can't eat a 6" because of the bread.< /p>

I get the salad now, they put all the toppings I like into a bowl then add the meat. I usually have to cut the meat up after but I add the oil and vinegar just like before. I add crushed crackers, croutons or some wheat thins if I am craving a bread flavor. I can get about 1/2 of this down and save the rest for the next day.

I am a breadaholic so this is the one thing I really miss.

I am able to eat a 6" Subway (well I was before my second fill--I'm too scared to try now LOL).

The key is to go VERY slow and to take VERY small bites when you're dealing with something like that (can't believe I'm actually saying that, but I've had a BAD week with bite sizes and spacing swallows).

Good luck! I love me some subway!!!

The week before my first fill I could pretty much get anything down. I ate half a 6 inch subway sub with double meat and cheese. I used a plate and a knife and fork and cut the pieces really small. Next time I will just get the salad, but I didn't have any issues with the bread.< /p>

I can only eat the flatbread from subway. I alway get a ham on flatbread (only 320 calories) with no dressing or it is more calories. I can eat the whole thing most days but i don't get any veggies on it. I only get ham cheese and the flatbread. I weighed it one day and it only weight 7 oz so less then a cup of food. I can't eat regular bread it gets stuck.

No way, no how can I tolerate subs! I can sometimes do wraps, though, or once in a while a sandwich with normal bread, which is a lifesaver because I have always loved sandwiches! Sometimes I will make a stack of lunchmeat (or a burger) and all of the fixings on a plate, without bread, and eat it with a knife and fork. I look at my husband eating a sub, and think "That would probably kill me."

I cant do bread --- the only things i can do is.. small bread rounds toasted and thin wraps... nothing else!

I did find a rice based gluten free english muffin that has 60 cals and i was able to eat it just fine.. was great with a little butter and strawberry jam

My surgery was 7 weeks ago today. The closest that I have been to bread is a wheat thin. I might try a wrap or tortilla next, but after all the "bread stories" I have read on here, I'm petrified of it getting stuck.

Sometimes I can handle breads sometimes I can't. I think it really just depends on the time of day when I try to eat it. But everyone is different in what they can and can't tolerate. In less I am filling lucky I wont even try it. However, if I want a sandwhich, I usually just get the insides that I have with my sandwhich, roll it up and eat it that way. Hope this helps you

I get a hoagie :-P ...and open it up. Than i eat the inside out of it, including a LITTLE (read little little little LITTLE!!!) bit of the inside of the bread. This takes away the craving.

I can do toast though with no issue. I actually can do about 1/4-1/2 a bagel with butter or cream cheese also. But you have to eat so slow it's boring. (if you're craving it it's worth it though)...

the hoagie turned salad is not so bad either...this is what I do if I really want one! Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
