My paperwork was submitted on Friday 03/12/10 and I received my approval on Tuesday. It's that great? Before no I was ok but it seems that no that i have a date, i'm getting a little scared. Why, i dont know. Actually everything went quicker that a thought and i was un prepared but i am doing what i have to do to get prepared. Stopped smoking, started excercising. I am dreading my pre op diet because i was told that it will be 2 weeks. I JUST WANT A DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me, too! I want a date. I was supposed to lose 18-20lbs, and as of my last nutritionist appointment I was down 16lbs, so I'm good there. Blood and EKG were good. I had my surgeon consult where they palpated my liver and that seemed good. I will have gone through all my classes by the end of next week. My insurance is supposed to be one of the 'good ones' ... just sitting around waiting like it's a call from my boyfriend or something! :)

Oh well. The best things come to those who are patient, but it doesn't mean I can't kvetch a little here and there

That is so great that you got approval!! I'd say don't be scared, but pretty much everyone gets nervous before their surgery and questions their decision. :) I definitely did, but it didn't alter my course, and having this surgery has turned out to be one of the very best things I ever did for myself.

I say this all the time when I post, but be sure to take some before photos and take your measurements now! You will want that stuff later so that you can see how far you've come!

Best wishes for your success, :w00t:

Catherine

You're a step ahead of me - I still need both approval and a date.

Good luck and perseverance to both of us (and anyone else in the same pre-boat)!

I finished my 6 months of nutrition visits last thurs. I'm still waiting for approval from my insurance co. My doctor doesn't want to give my a date til after the approval. I'm patiently waiting and very nervous about a possible denial. Keeping my fingers crossed for good news soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
