Blew it with the post-op diet... :(

Recommended Posts

My intention was good...I just realized too late that it was wrong. Hopefully I did not cause any damage. I guess I could of screwed up more and had a whole meal or something because I feel like I COULD. Obviously, I won't though.

Another question: I am able to drink fluids (Water and Protein shakes, etc) just as quick as I could pre-band. Should this be a concern? Or is it OK and just a reflection of me NOT having real restriction?

I was banded yesterday. I am on full liquids for two weeks.

Here is a sampling of what I can eat right now ==

Light yogurt

Cream of Wheat

low fat fat free cream/strained Soups (I like split pea with no ham)

sugar free pudding

sugar free Jello

Protein Shakes

sugar free cool whip

sugar free popsicles

skim or soy milk

I had a little yogurt when I got home from surgery last night

This morning I had 1/4 cup yogurt and a few tablespoons of creme of wheat. for lunch I had 1/4 cup split pea Soup. Of course Water, and a muscle milk light Protein Drink.

So I am able to eat and trying to keep up without getting hungry. I'm belching quite a bit and can certainly tell there is something going on as I can't eat or drink that much at a time.

Hope this list helps. I was also told if it can go through a straw you can have it post-op.

Good luck!

since i opened up my personal blender, i've been blending everything. i just blended up some progresso santa fe chicken Soup stuff and added in some of my unflavored Protein mix. the Soups seem to fill me up good. =)

the progresso Soups are good! at least i think so. i was always a fan of them before the band so no reason to change that after. just knowing i can blend one up and "drink" it, is a very comforting thought when i've been all Protein Shakes and Water for days and days. lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
