Am I loosing weight to fast?

Recommended Posts

First off I'm new to the forum and was recently banded. I had my Surgery about two weeks ago the 5th to be exact. I'm loosing weight extreemly quickly. I was weighed at the hospital at 303 and this morning I weighted in at 274. That's nearly thirty pounds in two weeks.

I feel fine and it's really nice to be able to fit into my old clothes but I'm just concerned that I'm loosing weight to fast. Should I be concerned or just happy?

Just be happy. As long as you lose it and don't put it back on, and don't yoyo, most of the stuff about not losing it too fast can be put to one side.

After only 2 weeks you are most likely of mushy or soft foods. As long as you are able to get your Protein in, at least 1000 calories and drink the recommended amounts of Water, I really don't think you need to worry. Just enjoy it! It will slow down soon enough.

The weight does come off rather quickly while on liquids, especially if you have a lot to lose. Nice job on your weight loss success so far. I wouldn't worry unless you don't feel well. If that is the case, then definitely contact your doctor.

Enjoy your immediate success... Most people say it comes off more quickly in the beginning. The amount you are losing might also have something to do with the amount you are hoping to lose. That is, the more you have to lose, the faster you tend to lose...

You are about where I was. Once I started back on soft foods then regular foodsit levels out. I then only lost 3 lbs from the 2 week mark to the first fill. I don't think that I have restriction yet. Maybe after fill #2 on 4/7. You are doing great but PLEASE don't feel dissapointed when it slows down. Keep up the good work!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
