Need Anyone's help with M-Plan that has been approved. They require 18 months of physician weight loss. Just found out they wont include my time using Meredia or Adapex-even though I had to go for monthly check ups and blood work and weigh ins with doc. I am getting very discouraged. Have been up and down scale with Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, Tops, otc diet pills, curves but not under doctors care-what do I do????? Is there some sort of advocate that I can contact. My mom has had procedure and she said there might be. Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks!

Have you talked to your doc's office about this problem? Sometimes they can do some word changing and make the requirements "fit".

Its worth a phone call. :)

My doctor said that he would write a letter to the insurance company stating why it is needed for medical reasons. You might check with him/her on that as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to contact my doc today. Have either of you or anyone else heard of some sort of advocate, that can help compile the info you have for an appeal?

Thanks

Good Luck Katie I'm sure a letter from the doctor would be helpful. Insurance companies seem to think they are suppose to say no the first time.

Kadtie,

You may want to start a NEW thread asking members about the process of an appeal. I know there are several members there that had to do this. (I persoanlly did not have to - thank God :) )

Also, you may search the archives of this site to read about past discussions regarding this problem.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
