Baby envy, however things are looking up.

I am 36 will be 37 end of May. I was told I would never get preggers and 8 years ago I did. Lost the baby (and my mind). Now I am doing great but that clock is soo loud with its ticking. I see doc on the 26th for lap-band consult, graduate May 14th with an associates in elementary ed. and start ASU in the fall. I want a baby so bad it hurts. I want the band to be healthy for me but I also hope to have a baby. The first pregnancy was after a 90 pound weight lose doing the Atkins diet. I gained it all back and some. My highest weight thus far has been 315, and I am down to 280 due to changing the way I cook and phentermine. It has been 9 months, had to do the phentermine for my insurance to be able to consult with the surgeon. You all give me hope, now

let's just pray age is not going to hold me back. I am meant to be a Momma and being adopted want to share being preggers with my Momma!

Don't give up. I'm 40 and just found out I'm pregnant. Had a rough go before I had my daughter (3 1/2 now), 3 misscarriages. I had my band in Nov 2008, told me to wait a yr to try and get pregnant. Started trying in Jan, and found out last Fri. Hopefully everything will "hold". Don't let your age discourage you!

This is probably a situation of, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Most doctors won't even suggest getting pregnant until you have had the band for over six months. Your body needs time to adjust. Most of your weight loss will happen, when you first have the band too. You can't be dropping weight for the band, then putting on weight for the baby. The best thing to do would be to space things out. Get the band, wait six months to a year, then try to get pregnant. But not both, you have to decide what you want the most too. A band or a baby.

I don't think its really a "you can't have your cake and eat it too" thing. You can be banded, and you can have a baby. It may just take some time. Besides, a lot of overweight women are infertile. If you get banded, and lose weight, it may be easier to get pregnant.

Thanks for all the responses. I know that things come in stages and am more than willing to wait. Daddy you said what I needed to hear thank you so much, I feel so much more hopeful now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
