Tired, Dizzy? anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 2/9/10. Lately i am really really tired, and i get bouts of dizzy spells. I dont know if this is from lack of nutrients? or if it cause i dont get enough to drink?? am i alone?? any input would be great.

I got my first fill today. 4.5cc in my 14cc band. that went uneventful, although im on Clear Liquids today and starving lol!!!

Are you on blood pressure meds. You should check that out if you are.

Have you had enough Protein or any Protein? I know when I was on liquids I was constantly dizzy and had to move to pureed faster than scheduled because I wasn't getting protien.

I agree with the BP post also. There are a number of things that can make you dizzy that aren't related to the band.

Nope not on any blood pressure meds! Always had low blood pressure, or good blood pressure. This makes me nervous at times and then i will feel great the next day! I was wondering if i was not eating enuff. i eat the Protein first and usually that all i manage to eat.

I'm a week and two days out and I find I'm dizzy in the morning following my AM Protein shake(I'm at the Puree Stage). I'm also not hungry and am having to force myself to eat plus I am freezing cold and can't get warm...probably because I'm not eating. Today I managed a cup of coffee, a Protein Shake, 24oz of Water, 1/4c potato Soup blenderized with 3oz of ham and a 1/4c blenderized veggies. I see it's 8:30pm EST so I guess I better eat something. Weird going from a total FOODIE to not even caring.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
