britt3400 0 Posted March 17, 2010 I just went to my first appointment and I have 5 to follow. I am very confused about whether to get the band or RNY. I am worried about the band slipping and erosion of the stomach with the band. I'm also worried about the major complications for RNY. I'm so confused. Does anyone know of any site that compares them? I can't seem to find any that give equal benefits and risks of both. My doctor told me that getting the surgery was my biggest decision, and that this one should be easy. It's funny, because it's completely the other way around for me. :cursing:
Spartan 4 Posted March 18, 2010 Britt; It really depends on which one is right for you. They are two TOTALLY different surgeries, and while they both work, ONE of them will work MUCH better for you. It's not a matter of which one you PREFER....it's which one will be the RIGHT one for your particular weight and eating difficulty. Has the surgeon given you his/her recommendation? If he is a good, experienced Surgeon, then he will have an opinion.....

They cover all surgeries there and can be very helpful. Good luck with your decision, Nancy.
mngirl0044 0 Posted April 1, 2010 I also had a rough time deciding which surgery to move forward with. I like the below website because it compares both methods side by side...giving the pros and cons for each. Lap-Band vs. Gastric Bypass Surgery
