I've finally made it (banded last week)

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am in the PRICING phase right now,,,on the home page of this thread it said we can get banded for 4500.00, and they would compete with any price. I was offered 9999.00 by strax here in ft lauderdale fl...can anyone help me with how I can get the procedure for the 4500.00 that was mentioned?

Thanks,

and happy for all of you...

The price you saw for $4500.00 is Dr. Mario Almanza down in TJ, Mexico. No joke, that's really his price. You can see his website at www.alighterme.com I was considering him at one time, but I decided to go with Dr. Rodolfo Natera at Star Medica Hospital in Juarez, Mexico because I prefer a full service hospital with an ICU, blood bank, etc. It's a little more expensive (I'm paying $6500.00) but I feel its worth it. Almanza works at Jerusalem Hospital which is an outpatient facility. Dr. Natera's website is www.drnatera.com but I went through Medical Tourism Company to facilitate everything. Good luck on your pricing search!

Hi everyone! I was recently banded on 3/5 and have lost 15 pounds so far but I am running into a bit of trouble. I am getting hungrier. Is this normal? When do you normally get your first fill?

Every doctor is different but my doctor told me around 4 weeks post op is when I will be getting my first fill.

Hi palseyprk,

I'm scheduled for my first fill in 4 weeks, which would be about 6 weeks post op. As Itsforlife said, every doctor is different.

As for hunger, are you still doing the liquid diet? You can always try one of the pre-made Protein shakes. I like taking those with me, because I can drink them and go, plus I'll be full for about 2 hours (depending on what I'm doing).

Milk is also good, if you can drink it.

Hope this helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
