That is WONDERFUL!! :frown: Congratulations!! I am starting to think about what I want to have done, had surgery February 5, 2009 and am down 118 pounds. I am curious to know how you got your insurance to cover it. Hope I am not too nosey, but I am hoping that my insurance would at least cover some of my surgery!

Thanks so much, and again, congratulations on getting your date!! I know you must be very excited!! =)

WOW! That's amazing your ins. co. will cover those things.

Congrats!

how tall are you?

our stats sounds about the same, although i could NOT set me goal down to 105 without being bones. I was in gymnastics for a long time and have a very athletic build.

can't wait to hear about it and see pics!

wannabthinagain, I am 4'7. I got REALLY lucky with my insurance. They are only paying for it because they paid for the lapband. If i wasn't banded they wouldn't pay. I chose 105 because i want my BMI to be in the NORMAL weight range.

WOWZERS! i THOUGHT i was short! heehee

that is AWESOME! the ONLY way my insurance pays for plastics is if it is a birth defect (i'm pretty sure that's the way i read it).

they gave me NO problems paying for the band. no pre -op kinda stuff at all, but absolutely NO plastics.

All i can say is thank goodness for TAXES! LOL

hubby claims 0 on his checks through the year, and when we do taxes at the end of the year, because we have 4 kids and are married, we get a TON back. we usually put it back into our house, but a few years ago, he got a boat. i said the next year was MINE...yeah, that didn't work. so, i got the band, and this year it IS mine and i cannot wait!!

for my BMI to be normal, i have to be 124 (that's the very highest number, 92, i think is the lowest! LOL) The PS told me at my consult that even at 124 i didn't not need to lose anymore that what he would take off would give me the results i am looking for. He said what was left wouldn't come off with losing more because i can't PICK where i will lose it from.

i have actually gone back up to 129-130 and my body seems to like that place. I think if i ate strict ALL THE TIME, it wouldn't be a struggle to get it back off, but then, i feel like i want to bindge at times, and i said i'm NOT dieting.... i'm eating like a normal person eats!

maybe after the PS, i will feel the need to work harder to get a few more pounds off, but if i don't, i'm still THRILLED to be the size i am!!!

good luck with your surgery! can't wait to hear about it!

Interesting, think I will check my insurance as well....they paid for my band surgery. Worth looking into, however, I do have a hernia that needs to be fixed, so I was thinking that while they are in there...may as welll do a Tummy Tuck and my bat wings! I am started to get excited about having that done! Hope you all enjoy this beautiful weekend!! :)

I checked Aetna and they will pay for my panniculectomy but not abdominoplasty - Tummy Tuck - and so if I want the better surgery, I will have to pay the difference between the two and I definitely plan to do that.

They absolutely rule out arm lift and thigh lift as cosmetic and cover nothing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
