Hello new friends! It is just past midnight on my seventh day after my banding. My tummy still feels odd but I may get used to it.

I'm a lifelong foodie and culinary historian. Having to cut back on the portions is tough for me but it had to be done. Last summer I looked 300 in the face and said NO and got on the path to here.

I am very keen on developing new recipes, especially for this liquid diet I'm still on.

Glad to meet ya!

Hello ! Sue ...WELCOME and Congratulations on your decission...I have been banded for 3 weeks now and am doing well , no pain or problems after the operation except soreness and I slept for about 3 days ...Now I have passed the 2 weeks Mussy food stage and am venturing onto normal food (small portions) its Great , just take it a step at atime and follow the rules...

Once again Welcome , this is a great place with many banded folk to help with questions and worries , although its always wise to go to your team (doctor/dietitian) with major concerns its great to get tips from those that have gone before us....

Have a Good day its Monday evening downunder and I amoff to catch some ZZzz`s....so Nighty nite from me..

Marion..

Welcome!! It's GREAT to have you here and congrats on your one week anniversary! Can't wait to be there myself! I am just starting the process.. hope to be banded in June or July maybe. Nice to see other "foodies" here... meaning, people who love to cook. I too am looking how to incorporate new ways of cooking and eating into my lap band lifestyle! knowledge is power! Keep us posted on your progress!

Welcome, Sue! I'm a lifelong foodie too, but being banded has just made that more enjoyable. What I mean by that is that now I can enjoy a reasonable amount of the foods I love and not have to feel guilty (or get fatter) as a result. And, I can order dessert now without feeling self-conscious that everyone is thinking "Um, do you really NEED that?"

I put a few recipes for Soups and other foods up on my blog (intermittently). Feel free to check it out if you like. I also have done lots of foodie events during the past year, from the NY Wine & food Festival to The James Beard Awards and dinners at all kids of good spots (Babbo, Bar Boulud, Gotham Bar & Grill, etc). No reason you can't still enjoy these things and lose weight at the same time, as long as you largely follow the bandster rules. :smile2:

Best wishes for your success!

Catherine

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
