Wow! if I drink another protein shake

Recommended Posts

5 days post op, with 3 week pre-op diet. I almost would rather not eat than have another shake. I know I have to push through I am just feeling whiney today. Starting to feel normal. A little sore still, especially around incisions, but I notice my clothes are getting looser.

Bigbirney - Keep your eye on the prize. So many have been successful with the band, and you CAN do it too.

However, it is OK to whine sometimes.

Yea I still can't stomach Protein Shakes to this day after doing my pre-op diet!! I suggest blending with ice and maybe adding banana and a tablespoon of Peanut Butter or something, just to change it up a bit ...good luck!

If you go out on the Bariatric Eating website, you'll see lots of options available to use for Protein supplementation, to give yourself some variety. Everything I've had from there has been terrific. I also invested in some of the Medifast foods, which are also good.

Hang in there- you are on your way!

Best, Christine

There are also the Protein Drinks that are not "milky."

I ordered some of the nectar powder "Roadside Lemonade". It's pretty good for when I get sick of the other kind.

I have a Protein Shake every morning. I purchased the Matrix vanilla Powder so I could mix different flavors in it. However, I seem to be a boring shake person b/c I like just plain old vanilla. I can't seem to eat in the mornings, so the shake is a lifesaver for me.

I'm on my 3rd day post op and also over the shakes. I just ate frozen yogurt though....I started off slow and then I found that I could gobble it all up, no pain in my chest feeling like if I drink too fast or too much. Is that a bad thing? It seemed strange to me... oh what I wouldn't do for a scrambled egg right now.

I have been craving the scrambled eggs, but also oatmeal of all things. Its funny the things I used to turn my nose up to, that now sound like Thanksgiving dinner.< /p>

I felt the same about the shakes, just so sick of milky sweet stuff. I bought some tasteless Protein powder so I could mix it with Soup and juice. The variety helped a lot.

My problem wasn't so much drinking the shakes, but the lack of actually chewing something. I think it was all psychological. After my first fill, my doc put you back on a liquid diet for a couple of days. I didn't mind the shakes at that time, but when it was time for real food again, it was wonderful! You just have to push thru these critical times. It's worth it in the end.

I'm pretty much over Protein shakes too. But I'm sipping them down. I think today might be the first day since surgery on 3/10 that I might finally get all my liquids in or at least get close.

I see the nutritionist tomorrow for the next stage of my diet. Mushies! I'm shuddering as I try to imagine what pureed fish or pureed chicken tastes like.

Maybe shakes aren't so bad after all. hehe

I have a new conspiracy theory, they make you drink the shakes so that when you start eating you will think the new diet is wonderful......hmm.....

You can do it! Try powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup flavor Protein. It saved me.

I didn't eat pureed food. I was told I could have cottage cheese, applsauce, oatmeal, yougurt, scrambled eggs, creamy Soups. Check with your nutritonist and see if she is ok with that.

My surgery was 3/11 and I am also so sick of the shakes and I have come no where near having my Water for the day. I tried the chicken broth and beef broth and thought it tasted like it came from a horse.. the chunk of solid fat when opening up the can doenst help much either! Yack!!!

My Dr also told me the same as VLP... next Wednesday I can have cottage cheese, eggs, creamed soups... can't wait!!

I did make some chicken noodle Soup last night and just drank the broth.. it was so much better than the straight chicken broth. I have also been able to eat sugar free pudding and fat free yogurt which helps. I am just dreaming about a sandwhich... a turkey sandwhich! LOL

It's killing me every time i make my son a PBJ sandwhich.. i just want to lick any leftover pb on my fingers... BUT i've been good! I'm too scared of anything happening! I am alot more sore today for some reason.. i thought i was headed in the right direction but today my port area is very sore. Today is also the first day i have had bathroom issues

Oh my gosh, cottage cheese and scrambled eggs .. really? I hope my nutritionist is of that mindset.

I'm drooling now.

My husband asked me what the difference is anyway between pureering things in a blender or doing it with your teeth inside your mouth. Good question. And if I have to puree things, I'm asking it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
