i'm two days post op and things have been going alright. i'm not really having pains when drinking anymore but i'm still having a hard time getting down all the Protein Shakes my doc wants me to be drinking. i'm trying though. i've had a lot of gas which i know is normal and it's been coming out alright. but i've also noticed that my stomach/lower abdomen is making a lot of funny noises. i guess maybe they are digestion noises but they are sometimes loud and gurgly sounding. it's wierd. is anyone else experiencing this? is it normal?

My stomach makes so much noise my 15 year old son goes "GOOD ONE MOM!" If you can impress a 15 year old boy with your stomach noises you are really doing something. I have had constant gurgle in my lower stomach every since my surgery, I also have a lovely increase in burping and farting. (My little old lady southern grandmother would be so proud) However, I think its a fair trade for what the band does for me.

Ditto to LeighaMason... although I don't have a 15 year-old to impress.

And all totally worth it.... I am just more melodious now!

I have the gurgling tummy too--makes for fun meetings lol!! Small trade off for all I'm getting back!

Me too, me too! Although the burps aren't as bad as they were at first they're still impressive. The gurgling is almost constant. Had to hide when I'm standing inches from a patient trying to examine them, I spend a lot of time saying "excuse me!" although I'm not exactly certain that's the appropriate response when the alien in your tummy starts growling at strangers....

But, as above, well worth it!

LOL! I have that all the time and I like to say that I have a thunder storm going on in there. A lot of it is air. I asked my dietitian/nutritionist about it and she said I would experience it for a while. My hubby likes to rate my burbs!!

What's up with the burps? Anyone know? I've been soooo burpy... and never was before. But I don't understand WHY... I guess I swallow air when I eat, but it can't be any more than I USED to swallow.

What do you think? How does the pouch make us more burpy?

i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one with a grumbly monster in my tummy. it's loud and obnoxious. especially at night. i was starting to worry something might be wrong in there but from all the posts it sounds pretty much the norm with the band.

"the alien in your tummy" Good one Christie!!!

I am 7 months post surgery and still have the gurgling, growling sounds when I eat or drink. I have them from my esophagus clear down through the pouch into my "lower stomach!! Bad thing is that I can not make myself burp. I just have to wait until my body decides to do it on it's own!

At least it entertains my 13 year old granddaughter.....she gets the "giggles" every time she hears the "alien"!!

My stomach starts the rumbling and gurgling only at night! And it's LOUD! It is so wierd! I am 10 weeks post-op. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

The Bariatric Surgery Coordinator at the hospital told me to expect a lot of noise in my tummy.

I have an alien in my tummy too and it speaks .. in many ways.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
