Hello! I was banded yesterday and so far things haven't been that bad. My biggest complaint would be soreness.

I have a few quick questions.

  • My neck is so stiff, is this from me not sleeping normal?
  • My sinuses are acting up, I am all congested, is that ok?
  • Where my port is, the area is still numb, is that normal?
  • Do you keep an ice pack on your stomach where your band is? I have off and on but wanted to know if it did indeed help .

That's all for now!! I have been able to drink my Protein Shakes and some broth which has been nice.

congrats om making this life change.. the neck stiffness is normal and i im pretty sure its because of not sleeping right, and i was very congested for the first few days my doc said its pretty normal and to just walk around and do ur breathing excersises. if its still pretty congested after a week i would call ur doc. my cleared up around day 4.

i dont know about the dumbness ur having i could feel everything..i kept an ice pack more on my port side cause thats what hurt the most. i did like 10min on 10 min off.. i think it helped.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
