Baron Patrick 0 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi All; got a couple questions for the "bandsters". Is the band on for life? What is the life of the band itself? I have my first dr. appt. to discuss this on the 28th. Actually, there will be no discussion - I'm telling the doc I AM going to have this, and either you support and help me, or I see someone else who will. Period. End of story. Either way, it's going to happen!

vinesqueen 2 Posted November 8, 2005 Well, if the band is for life, which it is, then the lifespan of the band should be your life span. Right?
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted November 8, 2005 My doc says that the band will outlive me. It's made of silicon which is intended to last a lifetime and beyond. Some folks have problems such as slipping or erosion that cause the band to be removed, but in all, it's intended to be a permanent solution.
mousecrazy 2 Posted November 8, 2005 The band can stay in for lie, but there is always the option of removing it, which was a comfrot to me when I was first considering it...as opposed to gastric bypass, which disrupts your body's normal functions, and would be very difficult to reverse. Now, after almost 4 months, I think I"d be nuts to have it removed. I call it my "brake." Good luck at the dr.'s!
