Clementine 0 Posted November 7, 2005 Is this normal? I'm very thirsty, but can only take tiny sips at a time. I worked all day yesterday to get down 1/2 glass of tea, and that was all I had all day. Today seems slightly better. I think I'm just still swollen after surgery. Does this sound familiar? How long until you drink comfortably and can consume a full liquid diet? I'm doing great mentally, and feel fantastic, but I'm thirsty....
Teresita 0 Posted November 7, 2005 You have to keep your Water with you at all times and sip, sip, sip, sip all day. You may need to need to warm up your beverage to help it to go down smoother. Everyone is diffrent on how much they can tolerate at what point. It took weeks to be able to drink comfortably. Keep track of how much you are taking in and let your doctor know. the best me 6 Posted November 7, 2005 Great advice Theresa. I agree with her, Clementine! I was very tight post-surgery...swollne had trouble getting all my liquids down, so you are not odd, it happens. Just take it slow and be patient. Call your doc if you feel really wierd about it, or uncomfortable. Otherwise, keep at it. One day you WILL be able to gulp again. I promise!
