I am seriously stuck. I have changed up my food, changed up my work out though this week I think I will put 12 hours in at the gym instead of my regular 10, and still weigh the same every single morning. I promised myself that I would not be overweight when all was said and done, but I am 3 pounds BMI wise till I get in the normal weight category.

I do think I need a fill as I mentioned before I don't think I have great restriction as I did a few months ago when I had a complete unfill.

Have you ever started over doing liquids then back to mushy's, etc to jump start weight loss?

Any other suggestions?

I don't know how long you've been at this plateau, but I can guarantee you I've got you beat!!!

Last year I didn't lose a pound for 3 MONTHS!! Working out, following diet, everything I was suppose to. Then over a period of 2 weeks I lost 14lbs.

THIS year from January to March 1st I worked out EVEN MORE, watched what I ate and did everything I was suppose to do. I actually gained and lost the same 2lbs over 2 months. Then this week..I'm down 7lbs (and it's my time of the month so maybe even more!).

What I'm saying is, that you can do everything by the book, and your body may not react on the scale. However, check your measurements, BMI and fat percentage..that is really where you will see the difference.

Jillian hit it on the head on this week's episode of the Biggest Loser when Sam only lost 3lbs. She said you're packing on muscle (I know, we've heard that a bazillion times) and your body will need more energy to keep the muscle. When your body figures out that your muscle needs fed, it will start burning the fat like CRAZY. Keeping up on our Proteins and exercise is TRULY all we can do!! Our bodies will figure it out eventually..and when they do...WATCH OUT!!

In the meantime, to "switch" things up, I do something different EVERY time I'm at the gym. One day is treadmill, one is elliptical, one is rowing, etc. Then my weight training, then I swim. And I walk 30 city blocks 5X a week now.

Every other day, eat something you haven't eaten in a VERY long time. Even if it's higher in fat or sugar, EAT IT (in decent proportions obviously). Eat at different times during the day...supplement meals with lean Protein every 2 hours.

Any combination of those could pop your body over, but it may not as well. Just remember that by eating well and exercising, the weight WILL come off eventually. It may now show on the scale, but it is a mathematical and scientific fact. (even if it sucks..lol)

HANG IN THERE!!! You're WORTH IT!!!

Great advice!

Also, I don't think anyone goes from top weight to goal without a prolonged plateau or 2 in the middle. It is part of the weight loss journey. It is frustrating but I am determined that when mine hits I will grin and bear it.

Good luck!!!

Plateaus totally suck! And you are doing all the right things to combat it.

You are already doing everything I had in my suggestion arsenal. How did you change up your work outs? Maybe try changing from weights to all cardio? Or vice versa.

Or you could go with my latest method of weight loss, catch a cold and have it turn into a sinus infection. Down 3#s!

My bet is that sometime soon you will break through it and you'll show a big loss when you least expect it. Like you'll take an exercise break for some reason and bam!

Maybe go ahead and get that fill and do softs/mushies for a few days to see what happens.

The closer we are to goal, the harder the fight it seems!

Best wishes!

Me, too. I decided (with the help of my great friends here) that I wasn't getting enough calories. I was only netting 500 -700 So I am upping my calories to see if that helps, I will let you know.

Honestly, I did the 5-day pouch test and it seemed to work for me. I am seriously considering doing it again, as I felt a major difference and better yet, the two pounds I was gaining and losing for 3 weeks were lost forever!!

Good luck, mominkansas! :blushing:

I agree with changing up your excersise routine. If you are doing weights keep it up. If not, you may want to start (muscle burns fat). I would change up the cardio your doing. Like mentioned, try to do a different one each time you workout. Also interval training is suppossed to burn more fat. Thats when you go really hard for a few minutes, then ease off for a few minutes during the whole workout. Hope this helps!

I bought this scale from Bed Bath & Beyond that tells you the values of your Water weight, bone weight, muscle mass, and lbs of fat. It was really expensive ($100) but worth every penny. I can actually see where my weight is being distributed. I lost 4lbs of fat, but gained 2 lb of muscle last week. hope that helps..

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
