im 2 weeks post-op and for the last 24 hours or so, my port incision has been sensitive/tender/slighty sore.

my port incision is bugging me lately. i have an appointment with Dr. Bui tomorrow. im really hoping he doesnt pull the steri-strips off the port incision and like....take skin along with it, or tear it open or something. its mildly sore if i touch it or even accidentally (and lightly) lean against it...as i discovered while washing dishes. it hasnt been painful until now. i just hope that doesnt mean that somethings wrong.

anyone else experience this?

my mind keeps going to the worst thoughts...what if my body is rejecting the port?

I'm 2 weeks post op too (my surgery was the 24th) and a couple of my incisions are sore to the touch. My port gets sore if I lean on it too and forget about sleeping on my right side!

We're still healing, so the tenderness is expected and normal. I doubt you are rejecting the port, that would be pretty extreme. But, if you're red, swollen, and have lots of discharge, your surgeon needs to see you, but you have an appt so it's a non-issue. I doubt pulling the steri-strips now would cause any ripping off flesh. You should be healed enough for them to come off. The tegaderms over mine were off by my 1 wk postop visit.

I saw the NP at my surgeon's office yesterday because I thought I had a festering infection in one incision that has been painful and red for a couple days. She put my fears to rest a little and said it was just a result of the internal sutures still not dissolved. And today, it looks almost as clean as the other 4 incisions!

Anyways, good luck, I'm pretty sure you're fine!

My port area is still a little sore/tender, and I am 4 1/2 weeks removed from surgery. Mine is kinda under my breast so that may be why.

thank you for commenting and putting my mind at ease a bit. i dunno why, but i sort of naturally expect the worst every time im worried!

im hoping to report back with good news tomorrow afternoon once i get back from my appointment. the last few days ive been having horrible pain just above one of my incisions (the one furthest to the right on my torso). my surgeon assured me it was just my internal stitches healing and so ive been taking it extra easy. i have to admit, taking it extra easy has helped a little. im still getting that pain sometimes but not as bad as a couple days ago.

thanks! and congrats on being 2 weeks post-op and having everything going right! thats very good to hear.

ah. mine is to the left of and slightly above my belly button. sort of inconvenient when you typically lean against things.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
