MissMelissa 0 Posted March 11, 2010 Do some people never really reach a good restriction? I know I have only had one fill but I can still eat anything and a lot of it. When she went to go fill my band she said it was already filled half way so now I’m REALLY scared. I seen people saying that all the can eat is half a cup of food. Is it this possible for everyone to get to this point?
princessaktmc 1 Posted March 11, 2010 Don't worry you will reach your sweet spot...I have 7.50cc's in a 10cc band and am feeling the restriction but i have had several fills and my doctor is pretty aggressive..You will get there it just takes time and patience but when you are there you will know for sure:thumbup: Just remember everyone is different so it may take a lil more fill for you to be restricted compared to someone else...Just hang in there...Don't be scared about your band already being half filled...there are a lot of people who it takes almost the whole band restriction to feel it but it eventually happens for them...Like i said everyone is different.. fhce13 0 Posted March 11, 2010 You have only been banded 1 1/2 months and you have already lost 23 lbs. You are doing great. As many people say in this forum, 1: we are all different 2: the band is not a quick cure. It takes time, patences, and work on our part (and fills from the doctor) to reach our goals. You don't say what size your band is or how much you have in it. I have had only 1 fill of 4.6 in a 10. band. I can't eat as much as pre-banding, but I am far from my sweet spot. Just do your best and continue to see your doctor as needed. You will get there!!
MissMelissa 0 Posted March 11, 2010 Most of that weight loss is pre-op.
mominkansas 2 Posted March 11, 2010 I didn't have restriction till my 3rd fill. If you band holds 10cc's it can actually be filled to a little over 10cc's. You are doing great.
BetsyB 9 Posted March 11, 2010 I know it's frustrating--after one fill, I was right where you are. But it gets better---you have plenty of "room" in your band, and you will reach the level of restriction that is right for you. Hang in there.
MissMelissa 0 Posted March 11, 2010 I guess it's just freaking my out because I hear all these people talking about not being able to eat different thing and getting full on half a cup of food. The weight I have lost has been from dieting aka weight watchers. I'm just fearful of never reaching restriction.
Dawnana 14 Posted March 11, 2010 Melissa - I am with you!! I can eat anything and everything still, I have had 2 fills totalling 8.5ccs in a 15cc band. I have lost 20 lbs which was almost all preop. I am hoping for my 3rd fill to be the one. I will say it does feel good to know other ppl feel the same as me and I am not going crazy! Lets try to keep in touch so we can get through this thing together!!!
vlp1968 83 Posted March 11, 2010 hang in there! I thought my band was never going to work, but after 3 fills it finally kicked in.
juliansmom2003 3 Posted March 11, 2010 Melissa, I am in the same boat. I had fill #2 two weeks ago--my doc does them in the radiology dept at the hospital so he can see the restriction level. He is very conservative as well. Before the fill, he told me I already had restriction (3.4 ccs in a 14 cc band) and I told him I was not feeling full on 6 ounces of food, so he agreed to put in a little more. .8 ccs later, I still don't ever feel full on 6 ounces. I do feel it if I eat too fast or my bite is too big, and I am really tight in the morning, but honestly, I don't think I'm "there" like he says I am. I don't even know how that could possibly be, but I am thinking of calling to get another fill soon (if they even give it to me). Hang in there, Melissa. Apparently, even the smallest amount of Fluid in your band can get you just where you need to be. We'll get there!!
lsprrnbr 0 Posted March 12, 2010 MissMelissa, I totally understand. I was banded in August 2009. While I have lost 45 lbs, only about 20 of those have been since the surgery. I have 8.7 cc out of 11 and practically NO restriction!!! I am just hoping that good restriction is possible, as all of my weight loss has been from dieting!!! MissMelissa 0 Posted March 12, 2010 Wow. Your story lsprrnbr kind of scares me more. How many fills have you gotten? Banded in August and your doctor has not found restriction yet. When I went in for my fill on Monday they did set me up for my following 3 fills (every other Monday for 6 weeks) :blushing:
lsprrnbr 0 Posted March 12, 2010 I have had 5 fills with my 6th scheduled for Tuesday. What really sucks is that my husband had the surgery too and he has GREAT restriction after just 2 fills. Makes me jealous :blushing: I am going to have a chat with the Dr. on Tuesday to see what she says...
MissMelissa 0 Posted March 12, 2010 I wonder why he has only done 5 fills over 6 months.
lsprrnbr 0 Posted March 12, 2010 I wonder why he has only done 5 fills over 6 months. I want to say that the manufacturers guidelines state that you must wait 4-6 weeks between fills.
