Folks, I am going for the initial consult on the 19th. I am excited about FIANLLY being able to get a handle on this. I'm 6'3 and 305. I can carry the weight OK, but WHY? Guess my biggest question is after the initial surgery, how often do you get stuck for and adjustment? I'm a coward when it comes to needles:eek:

Hi and welcome!

I'm terrified of needles, so much so that I've been known to walk out of labs while waiting to have blood drawn.

So trust me when I tell you that the fills don't hurt me at all. I think that was one of my concerns when I started this journey, too.

I get fills every six weeks, though I think there may be some folks who get them a little more frequently, every four weeks, maybe.

Good luck, and keep posting!

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

You'd think that after 28.5 yrs in the Army and 2 combat tours, I'd be better. I HATE needles. Not that it hurts, just getting stuck is not my favorite thing to do. I'll survive.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
