How long does it take to eat a 'regular' meal?

Recommended Posts

How in the world are ya'll getting in all your protein/nutrients if ya'll are eating 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of food? That is not a lot of food. I don't want to drink my calories. Are ya'll drinking your calories?

I asked my nutritionist the same thing! I can't physically eat more than that without eating longer than 30 mins, so I asked her about calories and Protein and stuff. We aren't allowed to drink our meals. She said as long as my body was happy, and I was healthy, it would be alright.

I eat only Protein since I don't have room for the rest. I'm hoping in time I'll be able to have some veggies again!! :blushing: Typical day for me look like this:

B: turkey/chicken sandwich meat roll ups w/cheese or chicken salad (if I have it made)

S: natural cheese snack

L: 1/2 c. chili

S: some form of meat (chicken, fish, turkey)

My nutritionist told me around 45-50 grams of protein. I don't know for sure that I'm hitting it every day. I work odd hours 4:30 - 2 so its been a challenge to figure out how to work my meals. I eat Breakfast at 3 in the morning and then don't have lunch until 11:30, hence the protein snack in the middle.

My 3 meals are about 250-300 calories a piece. Generally they are High Fiber Cereal for Breakfast, White chicken in a can with FF mayo, and dinner whatever my family is having usually chicken or fish. I have 1-2 Protein supplements in between that which are about 250 Calories (25 grams of Protein and that includes the milk). My calorie intake is supposed to be 800-1100 calories a day. I get all of my protein in too. I eat 5-6 oz of food a day. I feel satisfied and I'm not the least bit tired nor am I losing my hair for lack of protein. I also take a Multivitamin and 3 Calcium pills a day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
