My mother who had was banded a couple years ago in mexico, is gracious enough to say that she will pay for my surgery. The only thing that scares me is the 2 week postop liquid diet. But I'm willing to push forward and do what I NEED to do to become healthier.

The 2 weeks post op diet sucks. But the rewards afterwards are amazing. Congratulations and you are a very lucky person to have such a caring mother.

Hi, I'm one week today post-banding.

My post-op instructions are thin fluids for 2 weeks, then puree for 2 weeks.

The post-op diet sucks because it is boring, not because I'm hungry. Haven't felt hungry for one second, have to remind myself to have drinks to ensure enough Fluid & Protein intake. Didn't feel like anything for a couple of days, but doc thinks I had a virus that's going round.

Might be tougher if I was back at work and needed more energy, but feel so normal today that I'm sure when I return to work on Monday I'll feel fine.

I found the week of Optifast pre-op much tougher than this, so if you're coping with that you'll be fine.

All the best

Hi I was banded on 24th and am on my Puree stage its o.k I eat the same meals as I cook for the family but blended last night I blended a small piece of chicken potato , sweet potato , peas and gravy it tasted yummy even though it looks like baby food.. The first week of soup/liquids was the worst but you can do it ...I go back to the dietitian on Monday and I am hoping I can start normal foods (small portions) next week..

So far I have not felt hungry and have lost 1 kilo a week which is fine by me , I have not yet done any excersize but feel less bloated and may start going for a 30 min walk each day from next week....

Good Luck and you can do it once you see the weight coming off you will be more determind....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
