Sams today had a brand called pure Protein. It came in Cans similar to a coke can. 110 calories, 20 grams of Protein and 2 grams of sugar. I almost bought them but for almost $30 and 24 cans I wanted to see how good they were before I committed myself.

Anyone have experience with this brand? Please let me know, thanks!

Funny, I just picked up a couple cans at Trader Joe's. I drank the chocolate one (don't remember the stats) and it wasn't too bad. Decent taste and not too chalky. I still prefer the light Muscle Milk, but the Pure brand had much more Protein in it. (I don't eat beef or pork as it is, so Protein is always an issue for me.)

I have the vanilla one here and it is showing 35g of Protien, 2g of Carbs, 160 calories and 1g of fat.

They were $$$$ at TJ's- about $2 each IIRC, but that was a single can price so no bulk pack price to compare it to.

Target has Pure Protein as well I think I pay 6.99 or 5.99 for 4 cans. I get the Cookies and cream and love it. I also buy EMS advantEDGE (17 gms of Protein) in the silver boxes, that is 4.99 for 4 boxes at target as well. I like the pure protein better for taste but I like the price of EMS

I don't detect much of an aftertaste with Muscle Milk, so I'm not much help there.

I can drink the chocolate or the vanilla if they are super cold. I like that they are thicker than some of the other drinks so it is more like a milk shake. The Cookies & cream tasted like dirt to me and I didn't care for the banana either.

I do not like the taste of sweet "milky" protien drinks. I use Syntrax Nectar whey powder. 1 scoop in a bottle of Water gets me 23g of protien, 0 carbs, 0fats. The Fuzzy Navel flavor is good. I sip thru 3 bottles a day and get my daily protien and water requirements.

Mominkansas, I bought the Pure Protein Drinks and decided I liked the Atkins milk chocolate way better, they are the best in my opinion!

That company makes two kinds, 20 gms and 35 gms.

I get the chocolate and vanilla from TJ's and the strawberry from Vitamen Shoppe.

I have also seen them at GNC and a few other places.

I love them, so much better than some of the other Protein Shakes, but they are expensive. My son works at TJ's so I get 10 % off which is almost nothing, $0.13 off a can.

I haven't had to use them for a while since I haven't had a fill in a while, but I always have them in the house in case I get a stuck episode and have to do liquids for a few meals.

I really liked the pure Protein. I had to do a total of 6 weeks liquids (4 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op). I had to find a variety of Protein Drinks so I wouldn't get burned out on them and pure protein was one I really liked but I couldn't drink it out of the can, had to drink all my shakes in a glass. Atkins was one I could NOT drink..Yuck! RDT51 was another good one to drink...It had 51 grams of protein and the vanilla was yummy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
