How soon can I go back to work?

Recommended Posts

I am a real estate appraiser here in Connecticut. My job is really sedentary, just working on the computer, driving around to photograph comps, going to city hall for research and then the inspection of the subject property. Inspecting means climbing stairs etc. No twisting or lifting and so forth.

I don't intend to tell anyone other than my wife and mom, (you know how moms are-they worry and I dont want to keep a secret from her)

So the heart of the question is how long do you think I will need to be out of work before I can show up at the office without a big sign on me that says "I had a surgery"

My plan is to shoot for the Memorial Day weekend. I will go in on thursday and have 5 days off before going back to work on tuesday. As far as missing work thursday and friday, I will simply tell them I am going deep sea fishing.

I have no problems having a boss, cus I own the business, but share office space with a friend and his wife.

I already know the answer and it is "It depends" I could be one of the hard cases with much pain ect or maybe a lucky one with almost nothing. What I am looking for is a cncensus.

Regards to all

Hal

I was banded last Tuesday and honestly think I could have driven the 40 miles home following surgery on my own.

By Friday I felt nothing out of the ordinary. The discomfort from the gas was gone.

I spent a great deal of time Thursday - Saturday at the dog park and must've logged about 10 miles. All of that movement makes the gas disperse faster.

Good luck!

You should not have any problems going back to work in a week. You're lucky that you don't have much of an active job that some of us do.

I think 5 days is more than enough time - if I did work, I could have been back in 2 days!

I was banded on 2/26, and started to log telecommute hours the following Wednesday; started 8 hour days last Friday. I've opted to work from home for the rest of March in order to get stabilized in my new eating routines. To be honest, I have a 2 hour each way commute by public transportation, and I'm not quite ready to start THAT rat race again- so, since my company is up for it, I'm taking advantage of more time with my husband and some extra rest!

Good luck!

Christine

I took off 2 weeks after surgery and am SO happy I did! I work at a desk but was not ready to drive until 1 week after surgery because I was sore in the stomach area. It also would've been weird at work because of food restraints within the first 2 weeks.

I was also determined that no one know about my surgery. I flew to my destination Friday, had surgery Saturday morning, flew home Monday, and worked on my feet all day on Tuesday. I worked full time everyday. I also got tired but I found that drinking lots of Water helped tremendously with the tired feeling. I also walked a mile the day after surgery. The movement really helps with the gas pains so moving around or going up stairs will be the best thing you can do. Congratulations and best of luck!!!! Hugs.....

5 days is going to be lots of time to recover. I didnt tell anyone about my surgery at all. I have my surgery Saturday afternoon and went back to work on Monday ( Im a teacher).

It was easy to get away with not telling anyone about the surgery.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
