Did something very naughty, paid for it BIG time

Recommended Posts

So I got my third fill, did the full liquid

for 24 hrs like instructed.

Then it was time to eat and since my last 2 fills

didn't really do much, I was in the same mind set...eating wise.

Yes, I take small bites and chew thoroughly,

this I'm good at.

But I got a very naughty urge to

eat hot wings from KFC.

I never do this BTW.

I got on the highway, going 70 MPH

and took a bite of the wing.

Then my nightmare began.

I got stuck for the first time.

It felt like I was having a mild heart attack

at the same time a vice was squeezing

the top half of my spine.

The salivating started (sliming, is it?)

and my instinct is to swallow.

So I'm swallow and swallowing and it's making it worse!

My stomach is trying to burp but everytime it does

it feels like solids, not gas that wants to come out.

Finally after feeling like I was gonna drown in saliva,

I grabbed the KFC bag and allowed my body

to do what it was begging to do...throw up.

Two big heaves later...normal.

Nothing like hot wings the second time.

I had saliva running down my chin and

I'm so lost in this bizarre moment

that i just dropped the bag to the floor of the car...

and it promptly fell over...spilling its contents.

Don't eat while driving (which I never do).

Don't assume anything about a fill based on previous fills.

Don't fight your body and the signs it gives you.

Somebody please learn from this!

Now...it's time for a nap. UGH.

Oh man, that sounds awful. I just had my first fill this past Friday...I'm trying to eat LB properly...but old habits are hard to give up. I will learn from this :)

Ugg that sounds so horrid. I hope you feel better. Seems like insult to injury with the bag dumping on you afterwards! So sorry this happened to you!

No, it's fine...it IS funny!

I did laugh when I saw that the bag tipped over.

I was like, "Come on! Really?"

:)

But now, I think I'm swollen from the experience

and I can't get Water down.

So after I swallow for a little bit...

just regular spit swallowing,

my pouch fills and I have to go throw it up

because I start sliming bad.

Gosh, that was SO dumb of me.

:)

It will never happen again.

Hopefully the swelling will go down tomorrow.

I am very thankful that you are ok and that you shared your story. I go for my first fill tomorrow and this is a good "reality check" for me just before. Thank you!!

Yikes - that's rough! Lesson learned, I guess. I imagine that this must happen to everyone though. It's not like they do a partial lobotomy when they install the band, so you eat the way you've been eating. No need to beat yourself up about that!

My question for more experienced bandfolk is, does this have to happen? The feeling of restriction alone doesn't in some way warn you to be careful? I'm guessing that most people have to make the same mistake. I just hope not to! I will though, I'm sure. To me the moral of the story is to just test your limits within the comfort of your own home!

Congrats on restriction at least!!!

Warm liquids, i.e. chicken broth help me with swelling, you might need to go with that for a couple of days.

OMG... I love how you wrote that! I was cracking up since I knew from experience! Wow nothing like that tummy cop teaching us a lesson ... eh?! I am glad your ok. tell ya what I always lose another pound after those kind of experiences since I feel tramatized until the swelling goes down a day later.... I don't make a mistake like that for a long time after LOL. Lesson: Don't piss the band off ! LOL

I got my first fill last Sunday. I'm petrified of getting anything stuck after reading your story.

Thank you! I am a week post-op and need the reality of listening to my body. I will take your experience as a learning opportunity. Hope your feeling better!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
