:sleep:I am at 7.5ccs and I have only lost 27 pounds. I had surgery on Sept. 22. I had 4 fills already and non seem to give restriction. They all start off like they are but then nothing. I actually gained 2 pounds last month! Igo back on April 2 for another fill. My band only holds 11ccs. What happens if I get to 11 and still nothing. I work out at least 3-5 days a week and I try to eat healthy most of the time. I have lost lots of inches but no weight. I am down to a size 18 from a 24 when I started.....I want to see the scale decrease! Any suggestions......:):mad2::sneaky::sad::ohmy::mad::frown::)

Don't give up. You are down to a size 18. That's amazing!!! You didn't say how many ccs your band holds. You may just need a bit more of a fill. Talk to your doctor and tell him/her that you don't have restriction. I'm so sorry that you don't have it yet but you will. Don't give in to this. Fight for your band to work for you. Best wishes!! And Hang in there!

You'll get there! I've heard (read) that it can be a matter of .2 or .3 ccs that make the difference.

Will your doctor see you before 4/2 to add a little more? You may need to be insistent, or stubborn, or whatever term you like best. (Pesky, PITA...)

In the meantime, how can you tweak your diet? Are you drinking any calories instead of eating them? Can you make any different choices in that area until you get restriction?

Please hang in there! Getting to a size 18 is nothing to sneeze at! Look at the non scale victories you are winning! The inches are a BIG deal! Muscle outweighs fat, so if you're working out, that is probably what is happening. That scale will start to move. Your body is doing exactly what it should right now.

Your doc may just need to "top you off" and give you another .3 ccs or so, as jensmallwood mentioned in her post. DON'T GIVE UP! You have lost 27 lbs and lost 3 sizes--you are kicking butt!!! Imagine what will happen when the band starts to help you out!!!

I totally understand how you are feeling right now. I was banded on June 15, 2009 and have "only" lost 40lbs (maybe more, haven't weighed in a while). Due to health problems (i.e., spinal stenosis, back surgery, etc.) I wasn't really exercising much. I was so afraid of waking up my "spinal stenosis" monster that can cause me so much pain that I was paralizyed. Then I did some reading about weight loss and exercise. The value of exercising while losing weight is tremendous! So, I did some reading on exercise and spinal stenosis. I learned that certain exercises can strengthen the back muscles which in turn will make my back stronger and eliminate much of the pain. I got right on it! The numbers on the scale going down, they are not zooming down but they continue to head in the right direction. That muscle is heavier than fat is a big reason for that. My clothes, like yours, are getting smaller. Restriction is just around the corner for you, hang in there. You are already exercising, keep it up. The path in front of you already reads "success" even if you can't see it right now.

Keep up the good work, you're doing great!

PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP (aplogies for shouting). What size do you think you'd be wearing today if you didn't get your band. I'm living proof that if you learn to work your band you can get results! (now in my 4th year) For me my lap-band was about getting long-term results, which meant that I eventually learned that slow and steady wins this race for the long-term. Glad to see that you can get into your doctor sooner (despite the co-pay ). Are you really comfortable with your doctor? Can you describe exactly what you are feeling (physically and emotionally). I find it helps when I'm brutally honest with my doctor and his staff. Please keep us posted.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
