Got my surgery date and start my 2 week diet tomorrow but I'm scared and unsure.

Hi everyone!

I really need to "talk" to people who have been where I am and I really need some support. I got my surgery date a few days ago and it is March 23rd. I start my liquid diet tomorrow. I guess it's finally hitting that this is real and is really going to happen. I have read and read and read some more about possible side and after effects of the surgery and I'm scared.

Let me start by saying that I'm 38 years old and well over 300 pounds. Right now the only weight complication that I have is slightly elevated cholesterol. I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure although both run in my family. I have an 18 year old who will be starting college this year and a 2 year old daughter.

I've read so much about slippage and leakage and erosion and I'm terrified. I can't imagine raising my daughter with all these problems. I do understand that this doesn't happen to everyone and I have a very well qualified doctor I just need some support. I would also love to hear from other mom's with young children and how they are coping and doing.

It's totally normal to feel nervous before surgery..I think it would be weird not to! If you have done your research and are comfortable with your decision then try and put the possible risks out of your mind and concentrate on getting thru that dreaded liquid diet..lol There are risks to ANY surgery but this one is less than most. If you follow the rules your Dr gives you the risks after the fact are less also. There are people that have complications but there are also tons of people that don't. Good luck and keep us posted
