I had my surgery on March 2nd, and I'm just curious...

I have 5 incisions, a long one by the belly button... And I can't figure out where my port is. Idk if I still can't see it because of the swelling, but is it on the right? Left? Top? Bottom? Just wondering.

It's probably under the largest incision. You won't be seeing it until you lose a great deal of weight and maybe not then.

My port is underneath my largest incision, like 1" below.

Each surgeon has a different approach for how they place your port. The morning after the surgery, when the surgeon came in to discharge me, he showed me where the port was...on the left, about 3 fingers above where the main incision was (so, between where my bra ends and where my waistline begins- seems like a good place for keeping irritation at a minimum).

Worth asking the question at your next visit- I'm sure your doc would be glad to show you the port location.

Best, Christine

I asked my doctor to point out location of port on first post-op visit. Since each doctor places it differently, check with yours.

Welcome to the journey to a better, healthier life.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
