60 Day Liquid Diet - Countdown

Recommended Posts

Holy Cow!

I am on my last day of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I can't even imagine having to do this for longer than 14 days! You go girl!

I did notice that after the first 5 days my hunger diminished considerably. Maybe my stomach just accepted that it wasn't going to get fed no matter how much it grumbled!

I do have to agree with the ashli1982 in that the key is no carbs. My nutritionist said that to reduce liver size you deprive your body of carbs....this releases enzymes within the liver and reduces its size....I am not a doctor so I am not sure if this is true or not!

I really wish you luck! Keep to it and the time will go by faster than you think....hopefully!

Do you have to buy from the doctor or will they discuss other options for purchasing the shakes. It will cost $200 from the doctors office for 2 weeks worth of those things...thats kind of expensive.

My doctor gave me a list of options with the requirements for any shake. I cannot imagine 60 days. I am on day 11 of 14 and then 2weeks after. I think I would probably cheat also with that length of time; but have not. I can say that I have been good with the help and support of my husband and close neighbors.

Good luck with the 60-day liquid diet. That is rather stringent.

Hang in there.

I had two weeks before banding and then 2 weeks post surgery. Hopefully Tuesday I can advance. So looking forward to the next step.

When did you get banded? Was it recent?

Good luck. From all that I am learning, I find that one of the hardest hurdles is the liquid diet.

:confused:Hi everyone! I am new to the site and scheduled for surgery on May 28. I started my 14 day "liquid" diet today. I am allowed one meal of 300 calories, 50% Protein, veggies make up the rest. I can have "free" foods like celery, peppers, etc and anything calorie free. The shakes are not too bad. I got permission to use skim milk instead of Water so they are not so sickeningly sweet. My stomach is upset, though and hope it is not a sign of things to come.

My doctor also likes HMR. My surgery had to be postponed do to a seperate health isssue. My doctor did'nt bring up a presurgery diet until I asked him. I exercise every day and am losing weight using my own food choices. When I went in for my last presurgery appointment (or so I thought) the doctor was irritated that I had'nt been doing HMR 500 (as in 500 calories a day). Since it had been addressed to me as being voluntary, I was loosing weight (had lost the amount they told me to loose) and it was expensive I choose not to do it. After being berated I went and bought $125 worth of HMR. Keeping in mind my surgery was only 10 days away and I had already moved to having Protein Shakes 3 meals a day (about 750 calories). The HMR was nightmare for me. First it was causing a numb sensation at the back of my throat (This can be a sympton of serious food allergy. My brother has life threatening food allergies and that is one of the signs he has eaten something he should'nt.). I became obsessed with "eating". I was to have 5 shakes a day and would be hungry 30 minutes after "eating", constantly counting the minutes until I could eat again. I was day dreaming about food. I had not been doing these things previously. To make matters worse I did it for 5 days and lost 1 pound. This was less then I was loosing making my own food choices. I met with the nurse practitioner and told her my issues with HMR and stopped using it. From my support group at the doctor's office several people were put on this HMR diet for several months. MONTHS!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
