Hi all! I was banded Febuary 22, 2010! It was a rough week after my surgery. I have never been so sore like that. The gas effected the nerve in my left shoulder blade and lead to my neck. Every time I would breath I was in PAIN! I am no wimp and have a high tollerance for pain so this was shocking for me.

Here I am 13 days out I feel amazing, I have lost 14 pounds and the swelling is starting to go down.

Doc has me on Clear Liquids, cream of what ever Soups, cottage cheese, jello's and puddings. I don't do sweets very well I need meet!!!!

So, I did cheet...I just had to have the kids 5 peice chicken nuggets. It only took me an hour to eat them but It felt so good to chew something not slurp something. I ate slow and chewed it into mush before I swallowed.

My next Dr. visit is April 1st, and I am praying for vienna sausages or something salty would be great. I will eat more nuggets, I can just see it. Soups & cottage cheese just don't have the flavor I'm so in need of, and the SMELLS of the clear broths like chicken and beef are making me sick to my stomache. So I have now gone against Dr.'s orders and feel a total heal. I didn't over do it or make myself sick I just wonder has anyone else honestly jumped the stage of Dr.'s recomendations on allowable foods?

We got banded on the same day and I moved ahead on my diet. I wasn't getting enough protein/carbs so I just started having scrambled or hard boiled eggs once a day or so. I'm able to start on my full soft/mushie diet today and I was so excited! I didn't feel too bad about moving ahead a bit because I fell really well and I don't have any more swelling in my stomach at all and I was getting hungry every few hours so I knew that my stomach was good to go!

I was banded the 24th! My Dr reccomended that the first five days were liquid and the 6th day start mushy food. On day 10 I was able to move to solids, I made it 8 days on liquids and started mushy foods but I have since started eating normal again. I have a Protein Drink for Breakfast and a sf Jello between lunch at break and then I have something really small for lunch. Today I had tuna and for dinner vege Soup, I have had a couple ofchick fil a nuggets and they went down ok. I have a hard time eating COLD mushy(mashed potatos) for some reason they hurt. All in all I average 800-1000 calories aday and Have dropped 13lbs since surgery. Good luck

I was banded on 2/8/10. I too cheated in the beginning. I got sick at the sight of yogurt, cheese, puddings and Soups and broths. I was on that diet (stage 3) for 2 1/2 weeks. It was hell. I was dreaming of real food something to just chew. And, i did try my kids nuggets, mashed potatoes and eventually I ate Campbell's chicken noodle Soup and mashed the noodles and it tasted delicious! It was so hard to watch tv and cook for my family when I wasn't "allowed" to eat anything that I could chew. So, I completely understand where you are coming from. It does get easier. I am now on stage 4 of the diet which is pureed/ground foods. It is much easier and so far I have lost 31 pounds in the first 3 weeks after surgery. Good luck. You can do it.

I spent the first 7 days after my surgery on clear liquids only, which was a challenge to be sure, then was moved on to full liquids. Today at my postop, I was given clearance for purees WHOO-HOO!!! I had been saving some golden butternut squash Soup for just this moment...mixed in some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein to kick it up a notch. My husband got most of it, but Lord, it was totally delicious. He didn't know about the Protein boost until I told him.

So, now it's two weeks at this stage, and then on to soft foods for a week, after which I may be getting my first adjustment, depending on how I'm doing.

I've got to say, I've been tempted by certain things along the way...I made my husband sauteed kielbasa with barbeque sauce last night that smelled just heavenly...but I just chose not to go there. It was a personal thing. I know myself well enough to realize that if I give in now, at such an early stage, it will get easier and easier to justify going maverick, so it's better for me not to begin that happy road to perdition.

All the best to you...and welcome to Banderland, LaDawn!

Christine

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
