radink 0 Posted March 19, 2010 I got lucky. I didn't have to get a sleep study but my wife did. She passed apparently.
erikaw1971 0 Posted March 19, 2010 Well, I managed to get an earlier CPAP titration sleep study by being on a wait list, so I had the mask fitting yesterday morning and the study last night. I got the Opus Nasal Pillows and they seemed the least claustrophobic. Riddle me this: I fell asleep without a problem and slept for 6-7 hours with this alien nose thing on. I woke up and felt like total crap. I was so tired this morning that I almost fell asleep while driving home and I NEVER have felt that way in my 22 years of driving. I thought this was supposed to make me feel great...like the best sleep in years kinda thing. Ummm...WTH? In any case, I should have pulmonology clearance (I don't have to get a home machine) in a few days, doc review of my file and then off for insurance approval. Let's hope they can actually accomplish something quickly here because I have vacation in May. So here's to being done with CPAP and sleep studies. BLAH! susi1662 3 Posted March 20, 2010 Reading these posts has been really interesting to me! I have gone thru two sleep studies, and they were both awful. How they expect you to sleep with the wires and such, I don't understand! The first time was probably the worst for me because I was severely depressed, (I have bipolar disorder) and to top it off, while I was there, my daughter who was 15 at the time called to tell me that her stepfather had let her drive the car into the garage, and she had crashed into the washer and dryer and knocked a hole in the wall of the house! That really freaked me out, so much for sleeping that night! I was given a CPAP after that, but never once used it! My second time was better than the first, and was given another CPAP machine. (different insurances), It was hard at first to get used to my nasal pillows and the hard flow of air going down my throat, but eventually I got used to that, I wear my mask every night, and I admit I feel better in the morning. Not any more refreshed, but no sore throat etc. My mask slips all the time, I drool horribly but I breathe all night thru and don't stop breathing. Thats my CPAP story, just thought I'd add it to the rest!
