Aftering being banded, how much weight did you loose until the first fill??

Recommended Posts

I know that everyone is different, but I was wanting to get some feedback on this.

After being banded, how much weight did you loose until the first fill appointment? Just wondering if the liquid diet im about to go on helps with any weight loss.

Thanks everyone for the post!

My loss from the time I started the preop diet to my first fill was 18 pounds. I don't have an official weight for surgery day (they didn't weigh me), but according to my scale, about 8 of those were due to the preop diet.

(ETA: my first fill was 4 weeks after surgery.)

I lost 28 on my pre-op diet and 6 lb before my first fill. So, 34 lbs total. (lost NOTHING in week 3 and 4 post op).

Zero, zip, zilch. However, I lost 14 pounds from my seminar to the date of surgery (no special diet) and maintained my surgery day weight until 4 weeks postop when I had my first fill. From that point until I reached my first temporary restriction (about 3 months postop), I lost another 12-14 lbs. After reaching restriction, I lost 18+ pounds in 3 weeks. Of course, I haven't lost anything in the last 2 weeks, but hey...I can live with that.

To answer the original question of "after being banded", I lost about 10 pounds.

I have lost 15 lbs. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op. No pre-op diet. I have lost the weight by sure willpower, because I am able to eat large amounts.

The first week after sugery , I lost 10 pounds. The second week, it was 5 pounds. The third week, it was 5 pounds. This past week, 1 pound. So I have lost 21 pounds since Feb. 8, 2010. I didn't have to do a pre-op diet so I didn't lose any there.

I know I didn't "eat" near enough on my two weeks of liquids. It started to slow last week when I could eat soft foods. I figured it would, but I was enjoying losing that much weight in one month. I was hoping it would continue, but I guess not . I could also tell that I'm able to eat more this past week than I probably should.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
