ideas for Mayo substitute

Recommended Posts

I am a mayo snob and only like regular Hellman's Mayo. I have been subbing FF Ranch on my wraps for mayo and I like it fine. However, I want to make egg salad and the ranch wasn't good with that. I WILL NOT eat FF, RF, or any type of lite mayo. They are awful. Any suggestions?

It's like you have to have Heinz ketchup or why bother!

An old Weight Watchers trick my mom used to use... lowfat cottage cheese blended smooth in a blender or food processor. I have never tried it, but she swore by it. Just an idea!

Some think fat free plain yogurt is a good substitute.

I use Miracle Whip Free or Miracle Whip Light. Fortunately, I like Miracle Whip more than Mayonnaise anyways.

You might try low fat sour cream...it'd have a twang but better than ranch. Good luck and let us know what you come up with!

Like you I could not stand anything lite, reduced fat etc. i loved mayo. However, I tried and I really love olive oil mayo I believe it is rom kraft. It is 45 cals per tbl, much less than regular mayo and I think it tastes great. i do not miss regular mayo anymore. I am not sure if you tried it or not.

I use fat free cottage cheese. Yummy with tuna or egg salad. And fantastic with sugar free jello!

To be honest - why not use regular mayo ??

Given the small amount of food we eat I really dont think using a little regular mayo for egg salad is going to be bad.

I use both regular and the light -

Nothing wrong with real mayo or real butter or real sour cream, etc. Everything in moderation.

I use real Hellman's without a tinge of guilt and I put butter and sour cream on my baked potato. Given that I can only manage 2-3 bites of said potato, that's not a lot of butter or sour cream.

Oh...and I have had Hellman's lite mayo and it's pretty good despite being half the fat.

I just use the real deal---only much, much less of it. Not because I'm concerned about the fat/calories--I'm not eating enough for that to really register. But because it can take a good, solid, stick-to-your-ribs Protein and turn it into a slider REALLY fast.

A teaspoon of good mayo has around 33 calories. I'd rather use that than try to find something else that just doesn't do it for me.

Ditto--I like Light miracle whip, but with the little amount I use, I do regular mayo, butter, etc if it is around.

I agree that you should just use what you like, but if you want a substitute why not do half mayo and half cottage cheese(good Protein too!) blended till smooth?

I am an avid Hellman's eater. I know lite , low fat or reduced fat doesnt seem appealing, but I have tried them all and I think they taste similar. The Canola is probably my favorite Hellman's, but it has the same if not just a little less calories then Regular. I like the olive oil Hellman's too and it makes awesome deviled eggs, so I am assuming it would be awesome for some egg salad since its almost the same thing. I make my egg salad just like I make deviled eggs, except the whole egg is involved.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
