acid taste after sleeping

Recommended Posts

Lately I have been waking up from a dead sleep coughing. My mouth tastes like acid and my throut burns everytime I woke up.

I have not had a fill in since November.

I was wondering if anyone had this happen to them or if someone knows whats going on. I have lost alot of sleep over this. Its been going on for about over 3 weeks now. I started taking Nyqiul for quick relieve and to get me to sleep as soon as possible. Though, last night I noticed the nyquil didnt seem to be working as well as it did in the begining.

It only happens when I am asleep. Never when I am awake.

it sounds like you have acid reflux which is a common symptom of having a too tight band. I suggest you go back to your Dr and get some fill taken out. Do not ignore it as it can be dangerous and lead to all sorts of problems.

yep, def sounds like reflux. Have ur band looked at by ur doc.

Nyquil is not going to help ur cough since it is due to acid pushing up through ur esophagus. You should not it let it go on for long since acid damages the esophagus.

I do not see how it could be to tight

I have went for over 2 to 3 month with out this feeling.

its been about 4 months now with out a fill in.

It just started up about three weeks ago. The only thing that had changed THAT night was I had two large glasses of milk. I dont think the milk had anything to do with it sence its weeks after the first night of having it.

I highly dought its because of it being to tight

Acid reflux is one of the symptoms of band slip. I would definately get it checked to rule this out. Acid reflux left unchecked can damage the cells in you're esophagus and lead to cancer.

I didnt know it was a sign of band slipping. I will set up a apointment monday to go in and have it checked out.

If it is slipping does that mean I will have to go into surgery again to have it fixed?

To confirm a slip you will need an X-ray..if it's a minor slip removing saline and waiting a couple weeks may work..for more serious slips surgery to reposition it may be necessary. Hopefully if you have a slip you have caught it early enough and simply unfilling and going on liquids for a period of time will make it slip back into position, it does however make you more likely to slip again. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
