Cool Tool for mixing shakes....

Recommended Posts

I am posting this in the Pre-Op as I know many do shakes as part of their diet.

I use a powder shake mixed with milk. The first thing I thought of to mix it well was a little device that I used to mix my daughters baby formula.

It is made by Munchkin and can be found at Babies-R-Us for about $5. It is small, hand held, and batMixer_190x190.jpgtery operated. The longer you mix the better result you get.

Just thought I would share. I know Target used to carry it but I have not seen it there in a while. There also used to be another one made by Lion Heart.

That looks like a cool gadget. I might get one for the office. I use my Magic Bullet at home when I make my Protein Shakes and I love it!

Hey I also have another suggestion. I bought a bottle at GNC called the Blender Bottle. It has this little whisk ball inside it and works wonders on powdered shakes. It works great for when you are on the go because the powders tend to settle and this little ball just stays in the bottle and you can shake it back up when ever. Great tool.

I love the Blender Bottle too. I purchased mine at Vitamin Shoppe for around $8. It is a fantastic bottle and the whisk ball that stays inside the bottle is great for mixing and remixing the powdered shakes. I would definitely recommend this bottle!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
