I'm new to this Band world, I was banded on 2/18 so I'm only 2 weeks out. I have been on thick liquids, and started yesterday soft food. I have lost 12 lbs in the 2 weeks. I read all these posts and don't understand what restriction is or if i have it . I am not hungry anytime of the day, but i do still eat 3 times a day my 4 oz meals, 4 oz meals no snacking my Dr says. As I'm eating or done, I feel burps or like he-cups come not sure if that means I'm full or is that the restriction. I haven't tried to eat more then oz. Am i supposed to try to eat more to see? How do people know if you were told to eat only 4 oz? Not to say i don't want cake or candy which I'm not doing. This is all confusing to me. So far to me it feels like a diet I'm on as any other diet except I m not hungry during the day. Which is good ,my struggle will be keeping away from junk food. So my questions are is this restriction signs the he-cups/ burping ? How will I know when i need a fill do I want it tight so I cant eat at all or is what I'm experiencing now where I always want to be. I'm not a fan Of vomiting so

before I start my full on solids I would like to know.

I would say you have restriction, but it is probably due to swelling from surgery. I have restriction and get that burpy feeling too. Thats when I know to stop eating or at least take a break.

As far as cravings, I still have them. The band doesn't take them away. However, by not feeling hungry they are much easier to resist.

I agree with vip - the first few weeks were pretty easy for me, as my stomach was still swollen from surgery (which is why doctors wait until 4 weeks out to give you your first fill - swelling is down and gone by then). I promise, give yourself a couple more weeks, and you'll be hungry! Unless you're one of those really lucky people that hardly needs any fill before reaching restriction :smile2:. At this stage of the game, though, I'd say it's too soon to tell if you're actually AT restriction...you're still healing!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
